Maiju
Maiju Roine is a pianist, piano teacher and pedagogical composer working at the Lapland Music and Dance Institute in Rovaniemi, Finland.
Maiju Roine (born 1983) is a pianist, piano teacher and pedagogical composer who works in Lapland Music and Dance Institute (Lapin musiikki- ja tanssiopisto), Rovaniemi, Finland. She studied music in Tampere University of Applied Sciences and graduated in 2007 from the piano class of Kristiina Kask-Valve, and finished her A-diploma in piano playing in 2009 and 2010 with excellent degrees.
Before settling up in Lapland in 2015 Maiju has worked as a piano teacher in conservatoires in Tampere and Pori and a few other music schools in Tampere region. She was born in Suomussalmi, where she started her music studies. She is a founding member of Lapland Piano Society (Lapin pianoseura), where she works to promote teaching and performing of piano music in Northern Finland.
Besides classical music, Maiju has studied rhythm music and keyboard harmony. The style of her music is also crossing over genres – there are elements of classical music and film music as well as folk music. Maiju loves the arctic nature and enjoys reading and knitting wool socks at her spare time. For her, the music education of children in Lapland is a matter of the heart.
